Candle Care & FAQ
Candle Care & FAQ
A little care goes a long way. Follow these simple guidelines to get the most from your Wickkiwick candle.
How long should I burn my candle for the first time?
Allow your candle to burn until the entire surface has melted into a full melt pool — typically 2–3 hours. This prevents tunnelling and ensures an even, long-lasting burn every time.
How long will my candle last?
Our 8 oz (226 g) hand-poured 2-wick candles are crafted for a burn time of 40–50+ hours, depending on the scent.
Do I need to trim the wicks?
Yes. Before each burn, trim both cotton wicks to approximately 5 mm (¼ inch). This keeps the flame clean and steady, reduces soot, and extends the life of your candle.
What wax and fragrance does Wickkiwick use?
Each candle is hand-poured using a 100% soy wax and scented with phthalate-free fragrance oils — a cleaner choice for your home and the environment.
How far does the scent throw?
Our 2-wick design is intentional — two cotton wicks create a wider, more even melt pool that enhances fragrance diffusion throughout the room. For best scent throw, burn in a moderately sized, low-draft space.
What surfaces are safe to burn on?
Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable materials, drafts, and air vents. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
When should I stop burning my candle?
Stop burning when approximately 1 cm (½ inch) of wax remains at the bottom. Burning beyond this point can overheat the jar and the surface beneath it.
How should I store my candle?
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Replace the lid when not in use to protect the fragrance and keep the wax clean.
Is my Wickkiwick candle travel-friendly?
Our candles arrive in their glass jars. For travel, ensure the candle is fully cooled and solidified, the lid is secured, and it is packed upright and protected from impact. Always comply with airline regulations regarding carry-on liquids and glass.
Do you have any other safety tips?
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
- Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, and debris.
- Do not move a burning or recently lit candle — the wax and jar will be hot.
